Academic Arguments
When comes to the academic argument, it is completely different with our everyday English as we known. According to the way of learning stuff about academic arguments, the main points are as follows. The definition of argument in academic writing is opinion add support. The argument was present by means of an opinion given by author and supported by any facts or reasons that help the reader to agree with it. An opinion must be a statement, opposed to “facts”, which may be conflict by some person. For example, the Berlin Wall was pulled down in 1990. Its removal has come to symbolize the break-up of the old Soviet Empire. The former sentence is a fact, and the latter is an opinion. Because the fact is supported within a message, then the whole message is an explanation. If the message continually indicates that people’s live, ideological and social changes in charge of the new government, show some evidences to support the opinion, it will be an argument. Finally, the position of the opinion before the support is recommended in academic writing.
